The pain from a broken heart can be the most powerful and distressing emotional pain around, and it usually seems as if it will never end. Like the saying – time heals all wounds – this is true after a break up. But there are certain things you can do to shorten the process of mending a broken heart.

Most importantly, you need to avoid your ex as much as possible. Do not see or contact them, as it could worsen your strong feelings and emotions, and lead you to doing something you will later regret.

Whatever you do, do not try and get back your ex. Although you still love them and it will make you feel better, it will cause more heartache later on. Look, the break up happened for a reason, so trying to rekindle things is not advised, and will not help you mend a broken heart.

When mending a broken heart, it may help you to focus on what was wrong with your ex and the relationship. Sometimes we fall into the trap of remembering only the good times and why you liked your ex so much. This will only prolong the pain, as you yearn to get back together.

You should rather think about all the things that irritated about the relationship and any mean things they did to you in the relationship and after the breakup. If they loved you, they would never had tried to harm you. Focusing on the negatives will help you accept the break up and know how to mend a broken heart and move on.
